WHO IS CLARINDA LAUREN?
Hello! I’m the founder, owner, and designer.
Factoids:
I’m a lifelong lover of excellent design, an explorer of cities the world over, and a jigsaw puzzle enthusiast.
I’m often lost in thoughts. (I’ve been told I overthink things but I think I’m simply making good use of my imagination.)
A few of my favorite things: the color green, an ocean view, Thai food, and authors James Joyce, Jane Austen and N.T. Wright.
My moniker
I’m named after my great-grandmother, Helen Clarinda. My middle name is Lauren, (pronounced l’ren). I don’t know where my parents first heard it, but I’ve always loved it.
WHY CLARINDA LAUREN LLC?
One year ago, after working a long shift assisting in the fitting room, I realized there was a real need for dress pants with custom lengths.
I had been helping just three women for several hours, looking for any pants that fit their bodies and style preferences. All of them left frustrated and it all boiled down to length.
Too short, too long, and just not the right length for the look.
I knew I could help and I wanted to help. I was going to design custom length pants and, eventually, I realized I was going to do even more.
Clarinda Lauren isn’t just about a pair of pants, it’s about helping a woman feel good in her clothes (comfort and style) and confident in her life (work and play).
Those values weren’t discovered in a dressing room. They came from a lifetime of both painful and joyful experiences, insecurities and an obstinate hope.
A metallic interlude
I hung onto a career in the metals industry for nine years before it entirely lost it’s attraction.
I am drawn to a challenge, motivated by a fast pace, and love proving the naysayers wrong, but it was a man’s world and I walked away knowing there was something better for me.
I learned a lot about running a business, however, and it’s impact has been invaluable, giving me the confidence to be an entrepreneur, and helping me shape the values of Clarinda Lauren LLC.
My Barbie’s favorite designer
I’ve been playing dress up my whole life.
Beautiful clothes just make me happy - the colors, the intricate designs, the feeling of wearing that perfect dress.
When my friends started asking me to help them with their styling and shopping I then learned the delight and inspiration of seeing a woman’s face light up when she puts on that outfit, perfect just for her.
I chased that high into retail and am now seeking that deep satisfaction by creating my own designs for you.
My motivation
It’s intense to start something new, but I don’t think I’d be as content doing anything else besides managing my business and designing clothes that fit and flatter women.
